                Who We Helped in 2009/2010

AVA PLATOON

We raised money for a local platoon of soldiers called AVA Platoon of 2 Mercian. We wanted to raise money for then incase any of them where injuried whilst they were on their 6 moth tour of Afghanistan. We also sent out shoe boxes of goodies each month aswell as letters. We also sent them out iPods and filmplayers to help them relax during their time out of theatre. We held a home coming night for them with a Free bar all night, which seemed to go down a treat. Whilst they where out there one of the Platoon Sgt McNulty managed to save lives and do some heroic feats and decission making that we cant comprehend. He was given an award for his feats on ITV's A Night of Heros. which i have attached to this page. It is so humbling meeting him and am glad to say i have made a new friend. For him it "is just my job ".  Well Sgt Mac its a job well done. Thankfully non of our lads were injuried and all came home safe. We are doing the same in 2010 so if you would like to help or donate goods or dried foods or toiletries please contact us . Because the feed back we recived told us how much it means.

The Droitwich Challengers

This is a group of 30 or more adults with learning difficulties that hold a club once aweek. They where given £1,600 last year and with that money they have done the following. They had a great day out at Longleat Safari Park by coach. They also had a trip out to watch the Panto Worcester where a few of them got up on stageto give the final song some real Pazzaz. The money also goes to buy craft goods for the the nights when they make all types of things then take them home ( there my favorite nights but dont tell em).
After visiting the club last year it only took one visit and i was hooked . What a great bunch of people they really are, i was welcomed in with a cup of Alisons finest tea ( its really is the best , like mom used to make). Then it was off to meet the gang , i dont think i have ever met such a bunch of more welcoming people in my life. That was it , the next week i went as a helper and am still there today . Its not just money its time people need to so if you can help in any way please contact us on the page.

The Breme Care Home

They came to us last year and asked if we could help them . So off we popped and had a meeting and with in minutes we had it all worked out . They wanted to give the residents a nice Christmas, but told us it would cost about £700 . Hmmmmm ok how about we give you two Christmas's we said. Sold. So they had Christmas in 2009 with prezzies for all the residents and some entertainment laid on too.
Have a great Xmas 2010 Breme.

Acorns Hospice

We were given this charity by Ashley at DHL Droitwich. He had been to the home and straight away he new he had to do something. The Hospice does some great work so please check out their web site and see just what they do. www.acorns.org.uk
So we came up with the idea of Xmas toys for the kids who are in over Christmas. So the site collected enough toys for not just the resident kids but for their brothers and sisters. The Hospice does such great work that we have chosen it as one of our main charities for 2010.

 The British Legion

AVA Platoon sugested they would like the money that was raised for them and thakfully never got used. To go to the Royal British Legion. Because we only really like to help out people in the local area we asked to meet with two of the local reps. We had a meeting with two great guys who really enlightend us in what the British Legion do with regards to local people. As we did not want your monies to just go to London head quarters and be lost in the pot. But going about it locally means it goes straight to local Ex service men and women and their families. They help out with all sorts of problem, lawyers to help claim when injured or to just buying some furniture or maybe getting someone who has been in the forces back on the rails of civilian life.
So on the night we held for the return of AVA Platoon we asked Sgt McNulty and Cpt Jack Bellfield to present the local British legion Tresurer with a cheque for £5000 which as we speak is being match funded by DHL . DHL match fund virtually all our charity money collected, and we would like to send them a massive THANK YOU.

this amount will be match funded by the DHL foundation "Match it fund"

M A G G S Homeless Day Centre

We as a site at Droitwich first started working with MAGGS of Worcester in the Christmas of 2008 . We collected tins, foods and cosmetics for the daycentre visitors so the centre could give them a nice xmas box. We delivered a Citreon van full of goods and clothing aswell. This then carried on in to 2009 when they became one of our charites for the year. We had a meeting with them at the day centre in Worcester, which they told us they would like to put some money towards feeding the people who visit the day centre. So we did better than that when we raised enough money for them to feed the visitors to the centre for 6 months.
The Day centre is not just somewhere to grab an hot meal it gives advice on getting in to housing and also an all important address for job interiews, some where to have a shower;there is internet computers available to use or just somehwere to pop in and have a tea and a chat.
